Blog about creating the home page for GFWC.  


Tell me what the GFWC does.

    They have already established 75 percent of the public libraries in the country. Developing kindergartens in the public schools, and even working for food and drug .

What is the purpose of the organization and what type of activities do they participate in?
   They donate money for charities and colleges around the country.  


What are the qualifications and requirements to be a member?  
  Minimum requirements:  You must have two or three years completion of undergraduate coursework, there must also be a familiarity with archival principles, and excellent communication and writing skills.
    
    Preferred requirements: Graduate coursework in archives administration, library and information science, or public history. Familiarity with PastPerfect collections management software and working knowledge of best practices for digitization.


Explain the type of web site you would like to create and why this would be the best type for the GFWC of Elkins.
   I'd use a type of website they have for the national webpage I forget what the name of that would be, but I think that'd be the best choice for layout of the website.

Tell me about what you have learned in the assignments using Photoshop and while researching alternate ways to create websites?
             In Photoshop I learned how to alter text to make it look better than it would alone. Feathering to make it faded around a picture. I have only found one alternate way to create websites.


  What kinds of tools are available for web page designers and what kinds of tools do they use?
   Paint brush, feathering tool, text tool, eraser. They are mostly graphics tools, and editing tools for text and pictures.


  Do you have to be a professional or hire a professional in order to make a web page?
     You do not have to be a professional or even hire one to make a web page, if you have at least some experience with Dreamweaver or another program you should be fine.


  What does this tell you about the types of websites that are available for viewing and accuracy of information?  Are you surprised at what you have learned?
     It doesn't tell me much it just, says that some creaters of web pages may not be professionally trained. I'm not too surprised but I did think it would be extremely difficult to create websites.

November 19 Essential Question

What is Thanksgiving about to you and your family?  What are some traditions that you have in your family for Thanksgiving or other holidays?  Do you or other members of your family hunt during Thanksgiving week?  Tell me a little bit about your view on hunting.


Thanksgiving is about being with our family and giving thanks to the people who helped build this country. Traditions are me and my cousins breaking the wishbone. My stepdad hunts whenever he gets a chance, I am going to go when I get my hunting license. I don't see a problem with hunting because, if we didn't hunt before winter the animals would for one reason overrun us, and starve to death when there isn't enough food for a lot of deer or anything else you hunt, and as long as you do it for sport or food I do not see a problem with it. 

Tell me about a veteran or a current service member that you know or are related to.  Why is it important to honor veterans of our country?  Name at least one small way that youcan honor or thank a veteran or current service member. (Or maybe a way that you already did yesterday on Veteran's Day.)

My step uncle is going to be serving in a couple of months. It's important to honor the men & women who helped keep this country safe. On Veterans day, I went to a friends school and we went next the Veterans memorial next to Walgreens and sang to the Veteran's American songs.

Yay Buttons...not

While we were developing our game, I realized how difficult it was to code the buttons. The tutorials did help a lot with the navigation buttons though.  While we were designing our game we had an idea of how we could include buttons in our game and game demo. It was challenging finding the right layers for the buttons and the code, we got confused a lot during it.

November 5 Essential Question

1. Define: 
                 research scientist: A scientist, in the broadest sense, is any person who engages in a systematic activity to acquire knowledge or an individual that engages in such practices and traditions that are linked to        schools of thought or philosophy.

                 developing countries: a term generally used to describe a nation with a low level of material well being.                 
                  
                GDP: General Political Department (PLA)                 
                 
                market research survey: is the systematic gathering, recording, and analysis of data about issues relating to marketing products and services.                 
                 
                rural: living in or characteristic of farming or country life; "rural people"; "large rural households"; "unpaved rural roads"; "an economy that is basically rural"                 
                
               contract-labor force: The total number of people employed or seeking employment in a country or region.

2. Why would people in developing countries be particularly likely to be interested in small jobs? Who do you think benefits more from mobile phones, people in rich countries or people in developing countries?      They take what they can get since their opportunities are limited.

3. Why do you think that the number of people in the developing world with mobile phones has gone up so quickly? Does this mean that people in poor parts of the world are now richer than they were a few years ago? No, prices for these phones have gone down, and there are very good deals.

4. What is local knowledge? What would be some examples of non-local knowledge? Why does some knowledge remain local, while other knowledge is recorded in encyclopedias and newspapers?
Mainly very, very important information that can have an effect on everywhere or a large landmass, not just a small town.

5. How can knowledge help people? How does crowdsourcing make use of local knowledge?



6. If relief agencies knew where malnourished people or people needing medicine were, how would the world be different? How do most people communicate their need for food, medicine, and other items? How are these needs a type of localized knowledge?  They can send letters or now use phones if they have them, or the internet with e-mails or even social networking websites.


7. What are some other uses you can think of for txteagle? 
It helps places have better productivity and reduce the prices for it.

What are the challenges of completing your personal web pages?  Explain.


The challenges i'm having with my webpage are, I forget how to make a lot of the elements we need for the webpage to make it look professional.  It's a lot tougher than it looks and seems. I am having a hard time knowing what the resume should look like.
